Welcome to the Lead Service Line Replacement Project informational website. This initiative is part of federally mandated requirement to replace outdated lead water lines on a block by block basis to upgrade aging infrastructure and ensure residents receive safe, clean drinking water to enhance system reliability and address health concerns.

The City anticipates that the cost replacement of the customer-owned portion of the lead service line, which begins in 2027, will be covered by the recent water rate increases, with no additional cost to the property owner. However, the City cannot guarantee that the cost of replacement will not exceed the funds generated by the rate increase, and if so, additional costs may be the responsibility of the individual customer. Our goal is to complete this work while minimizing disruptions to residents. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we improve our community's water infrastructure. To view frequently asked questions about the project click the FAQ icon above.

For additional information on the Lead Service Line Replacement Project, please call Water at 309-434-2400 or email water@cityblm.org.
